The UGC-entitled online academic programmes were formally inaugurated and digitally launched by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri J. P. Nadda, in the august presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, and the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Health and Cooperatives, Government of Uttarakhand, Shri Dhan Singh Rawat. The occasion was also graced by the Hon’ble President of the University, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Board of Governors, Board of Management, Academic Council members and the Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE).
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Union Minister underscored that technology-enabled education is a cornerstone of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, facilitating equitable access to quality higher education beyond geographical and socio-economic barriers. He emphasized that UGC-entitled online programmes uphold academic credibility, learner-centric flexibility, and global standards, thereby empowering students and working professionals to respond effectively to the demands of a rapidly evolving, knowledge-driven economy.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister reiterated the State Government’s commitment to strengthening higher education through digital innovation, particularly for learners in remote and hilly regions. He observed that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing skilled human resources and in advancing the vision of a developed and self-reliant India.
The Hon’ble Minister of Education, Health and Cooperatives remarked that UGC-entitled online programmes are academically equivalent to conventional programmes and are structured to ensure quality, transparency, and measurable learner outcomes. He encouraged students to leverage these opportunities for lifelong learning, skill enhancement, and career advancement.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble President of the University, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, expressed pride in the institution’s role in promoting inclusive and technology-driven education. He stated that the launch of UGC-entitled online programmes reflects the University’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility, in alignment with national priorities and global best practices.
In his address, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, highlighted that the online programmes have been meticulously designed in accordance with UGC regulations, ensuring robust curriculum architecture, engagement of qualified faculty, and comprehensive learner support systems. He emphasized that the initiative would significantly expand the University’s academic outreach while upholding the highest standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
The Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Dr. Mukesh Bijalwan, outlined the operational and academic framework of the online programmes, including digital learning platforms, learner support services, assessment mechanisms, and academic mentoring. He affirmed the CDOE’s commitment to delivering a seamless, student-centric learning experience and to fostering skill-oriented, outcome-based education.
This landmark initiative represents a significant step towards expanding access to quality higher education through digital platforms, promoting flexibility, inclusivity, and academic excellence, in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020 and the broader national development goals.
