What is a DEB ID?

A DEB ID is a unique student ID required by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for learners enrolling in Online or Distance Learning (ODL) programs in India. It ensures that students are enrolled only in UGC-recognised institutions.

Why do you need a DEB ID?

  • Confirms your enrolment in a UGC-approved online program
  • Helps UGC track your academic records through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)
  • Mandatory for onboarding at SRHU

Step-by-Step Process

Generate Your ABC ID

  1. Visit www.abc.gov.in
  2. Click Register and select Student
  3. Log in using your DigiLocker account
    • If you already have one, sign in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and OTP
    • If not, click New User Signup and create an account using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  4. Once logged in, go to the Education section and click Create ABC ID
Your ABC ID will look like this: ABC123456789@abcid
You'll need this ABC ID to create your DEB ID.

Create Your DEB ID

  1. Visit the UGC DEB Student Portal: https://deb.ugc.ac.in/
  2. Click on Get DEB ID
  3. Enter your ABC ID
  4. Provide your Email ID and Mobile Number
  5. Agree to the terms and submit
Your DEB ID will be sent to your registered email.
